it is pronounced like "I know."
AiNO is a Finnish word meaning one and only — unique. We want our wallcoverings to be exactly that: the only choice for your project because nothing else works as well.
It's also the middle name of our founder's mother — who remains her biggest design influence, and the reason for every unconventional spelling decision since.
Our Origin Story
AiNO is the product and manufacturing studio inside HiiVE Creative, a design agency founded in 2013. Founder and Creative Director Tiina Martin has over 25 years of experience as a licensed Interior Designer, plus projects in brand development and graphic design, working for acclaimed firms on recognized architectural projects worldwide, alongside influential names in hospitality and fashion. AiNO was built from that design DNA — her background in Interior Design, Graphic Design, and Psychology shows up in the product itself and in how we work with designers and architects. The patterns are created not just for how they look, but for how they make a space feel. And when we work with you, we speak your language because we do what you do every day.
AiNO began in 2018, working with fellow hospitality designers in Las Vegas to create custom designs for new casino projects, Circa and Resorts World. From there, our On-Demand catalog grew as we continued to leave our mark on casino projects in the region. We became a Material Bank partner in 2021 to help bring our products across the United States and Canada.

Whether we're working with architects or interior designers as your pattern consultants, creating custom designs for your project, or designing our own on-demand patterns, we believe a space's soul comes down to how color, pattern, and scale shape its walls. The rest matters too, but the walls have the biggest impact.
We digitally print every pattern specifically for your project. We can customize on the substrate you choose, in the color your project needs. Nothing is pre-manufactured and warehoused waiting for a buyer. We print when you order.

What We Stand For
Beauty shouldn't cost the planet, or the people making it. Every one of our patterns can be specified on a PVC-free substrate at no added cost — look for the green leaf across our site to see which grounds qualify. We sample exclusively through Material Bank, where every order ships 100% carbon neutral: we cut packaging waste by aggregating samples from multiple brands into a single box, and a reclamation program keeps unused samples out of landfills, making it easier for your project to stay responsible.
